This has always been a fixture to the area, only used fresh water. It has been passed down through 2 families, and enjoys the racing history of the Tri-City area on the Columbia River of Washington State. A bit of history finally going to sea.ġ936 Dual Cockpit Vintage 15’ Wooden Boat “Miss Bert” Historic connection to Pasco Tri-City Kennewick areas, WA Vintage Hydroplane & Racing Boats on the Columbia River This 1936 historic wooden boat was named in the 40’s as “Miss Bert” after the original owner’s wife, Roberta. Each boat is planked with mahogany salvaged from the last remaining stock of Higgins Boat Building shop that was laid up to plank PT boats during WWII. Each boat is hand built by one man working alone in a shop in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. The new models are powered with Mercury’s 3.0 liter TKS engine with Alpha I stern drive which provides performance approaching 50 mph. Boat length is 15'11" on a new trailer with folding tongue which will fit into most suburban garages. No varnish is used on these boats- the final finish is clear epoxy and automotive clear coat. ![]() The hulls are seamless epoxy/glass composites with 3/16" mahogany plank laid into the epoxy surface. The new runabouts from Mahogany heartthrobs have solved all those problems. But they were a maintenance nightmare with leaking plank bottoms and pealing varnish. Some of the most beautiful boats ever built were the mahogany runabouts of the 1930's and 40's. ![]()
